5 Tips for Summer Trucking
If you’re a truck driver, the summer can be an especially hot and humid time of year. There are many different things that you might need to stay comfortable with while driving this season. Here are five tips for staying cool on the road this summer.
- Stay Hydrated
- Protect your skin
- Watch out for traffic
- Be aware of construction zones
- Check the weather
Stay Hydrated
When you’re on the road, it’s easy to forget about drinking water. But in order to stay hydrated and cool during the summer months, this is an important habit that needs your attention!
Keep a couple of small bottles nearby or next to you when driving for constant reminders so there won’t be any excuses not to drink up throughout the day.
Protect Your Skin
The rays of sunlight shining through the driver’s side window can feel great, but there are serious risks associated with this. For example, one risk is that your skin may get sunburned or develop other forms of sun damage from sitting on a hot seat for too long.

Watch out for traffic
Be EXTRA vigilant. There will be more people on the road than in any other season- kids are out of school and families on vacations. Stay alert!
Be Aware of Constructions
More roadwork is done during the warm months because it’s easier for crews and equipment to do their job without freezing up or being covered by snow. So keep an eye for construction zones to avoid any accidents or fines.
Check the weather
You should always check the weather regardless of the season; however, summer can bring sudden and severe storms. You’ll want to watch for these so you are never caught off guard by a storm or flood.
